The Development team were pleased to welcome representatives from Buckinghamshire Council and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to our Gatehouse Road site, Bunning Mews, in Aylesbury. Both organisations have provided funding for these fully furnished, self-contained, single person homes, built to PassivHaus* standards. Designed for people who have previously been homeless, each property has a small private decked area to the rear, with shared wi-fi, laundry facilities, parking and cycle storage area.
* The Passivhaus standard is a highly energy-efficient building design that promotes comfort and sustainability. It aims to create buildings that require minimal energy for heating and cooling, relying on passive solar energy and natural ventilation.

This year we welcomed 68 new home owners to their shared ownership homes
“I have been thinking of buying a house for a while now and I finally went for it and contacted Tony from Fairhive Homes. He was excellent and was always quick to reply… The Shared Ownership process felt stress free and this is down to Tony…”
“…They say moving is stressful, this wasn’t…Communication has been fantastic, little check-ins every now and then to say hi and reassure everything is ok even if there’s no news… Very informative on hand-over day with information on the appliances, who to contact for what, welcome packs, everything you need to know. I have no hesitation to recommend Fairhive Homes…”
“I recently purchased my 1st home in the UK through Fairhive Homes under the shared ownership scheme and I couldn’t be happier with the experience…The entire process from decision to handover, took just one month – truly impressive! Fairhive Homes has an exceptional sales team, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable property partner.”

*Whilst 57 homes received insulation, a total of 166 homes received other improvement measures such as low carbon heating (e.g. heat pumps or high heat retention storage heaters), solar panels, and solar diverters (a form of energy storage), but these homes didn’t require insulation because it was sufficient. All of these properties were below EPC C which, through a combination of energy efficiency measures, were brought up to EPC C or above.
**116 properties received 244 home improvement measures: 79 as part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2, five received Cavity Wall Insulation as part of the Energy Company Obligations round 4 (ECO4 funding), three received solar improvements through ECO4 too, and 29 received ad hoc major works.
